Alli Review

Is Ally a scam ??

Having tried almost everything available when it came to my weight loss efforts, I felt that at times I was a human test guinea pig going through the motions- new fat burner here, carb blocker there, etc, etc. Well let me tell you a little story. A few weeks ago I was meandering through my local Wal-Mart, not looking for anything specific at all, when my eye caught site of something I hadn’t noticed on the shelves before- Alli diet pills, which were being presented in some kind of starter pack. And the reason it caught my eye? Because I have a friend named Ally (Allison)!

I checked out the packaging to try and glean some information about the product, after all, if this could help me lose a couple more pounds, what the hell!

The first thing I noticed upon closer inspection was not the packet of pills themselves but all the reference books that accompanied them. Now, it might just be me, but for some reason that set off alarm bells. Why on earth would a packet of diet pills need to come with all this reference material? I should have paid heed to all those bells but I scrutinized the package further and found out that the product was actually FDA endorsed to be sold over-the-counter and that it was basically another ‘fat burner’.

Alli is meant to be taken with meals containing some fat, three times per day. Because of the way that Alli actually works, it’s suggested that not more than 15 grams of fat is eaten with each meal as Alli is a gastrointestinal lipase inhibitor, which means it works by inhibiting the digestion of fats from the diet.

Well, to cut a long story short, I took the plunge and purchased the packet, took it home and started following the course as prescribed. The first couple of days went OK with no significant loss of weight (although I must admit I wasn’t expecting anything that quick). On the evening of the third day my stomach started to feel a bit bloated, but at the time I thought it was just something I had eaten. By bedtime though, my stomach was in knots and I had terrible wind- I was feeling very uncomfortable to say the least!

Well, let me tell you. Something happened to me that night that hasn’t happened to me since I was a baby- I pooped my pants. Yep, you heard right. I didn’t even have time to get to the bathroom! By this time, I realised that the pills must have been having some kind of adverse reaction. Did I mention the cramps as well? I didn’t think cramps could be so painful.

Needless to say, the next morning (sore behind and all) I decided I needed to do a bit of research on my Alli pills; and boy- do I wish I had done that before I bought them. The internet was rife with reviews ranging from: ‘the pill stained some of my pants’ to ‘I fainted because of dehydration and low blood pressure’!

Maybe I should have taken a closer look at the enclosed leaflet- I might have noticed all the possible side-effects listed there!

Needless to say my packet of pills ended up in the garbage.

I wish people would just get this through their thick skulls: losing weight takes WORK. That means excercise and good eating habits. Stop eating McDonalds all the time and get your fat butt onto the treadmill - and use the stairs instead of the elevator! This “weight loss” industry feeds on stupidity and ignorance. Based on the numbers we sure do have a lot of stupidity out there!

You’re right Max! Proper diet and of course exercise should go together in losing weight.

You ate to much fat. I work in a drug store as a manager if you eat over 15 grams in a day of fat it builds up in the lower part of teh digestive system. Ionce thought of merchandising Alli with Depends, but my DM would be angry.

I would not waste my money on Alli. that is unless you want to sh!t yourself. I mean literally. It can and will cause oily loose stool. I found that PHentramin D worked so much better. I have tons of energy and lost 24 lbs in one month.
